I have been interested in sport fishing since my earliest recollections. I look back on my childhood fishing experiences as some of the most enjoyable moments of my life. I knew by the 8th Grade that I wanted to turn my interests in fishing and conservation into a career working for a state or federal agency.

I graduated from Utah State University in 1976 with a BS Degree in Wildlife Science and a focus on Fisheries Management. I worked for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in many areas and capacities for nearly 40 years, and am now enjoying retirement. My UDWR experience included work as a fisheries seasonal in Cedar City, a laboratory technician in the UDWR Salt Lake office, a Resource Analyst for the Habitat Section in Price, a High Lakes Fisheries Biologist on the North Slope of the Uintas, Strawberry Reservoir Fisheries Project Leader, Coldwater Sportfish Coordinator, and finally the Fisheries Section Chief.

I have really enjoyed working with the anglers and angler groups over the years, and believe that together we have accomplished many great things for Utah’s Fisheries. I am especially proud of the work that was done at Strawberry to turn this chub-infested

water into a nationally recognized cutthroat fishery. I was involved in the initial phases of the Strawberry River Restoration Project. Presently I am a member of the High Country Fly Fishers, Strawberry Anglers Association and Friends of Strawberry Valley, and I am serving as the Chairman of the Utah Anglers Coalition.

While I enjoy fishing for nearly all species of sport fish, I am really at home fly fishing many of Utah’s stillwater fisheries from my float tube in waters such as Strawberry, Calder, Rockport, Lost Creek, East Canyon, and many of the smaller lakes in the Uintas and on the Boulder Mountains. I have also fished in waters around the country including Yellowstone Lake, lakes of the Wind River Mountains, Okoboji Lake, Lake St. Clair, and coastal fishing in Alaska. Now that I am retired, I hope to expand my fishing excursions internationally.
